IBJJF age divisions, by birth year.
IBJJF competition age divisions are published by year of birth. That makes a birth-year table more useful than trying to calculate an athlete's age on the day of a tournament.
This 2026 reference combines the official age tables published on current IBJJF championship pages. Always confirm the exact championship page before registration because event eligibility can differ by event type.

Why birth year matters
The division does not change on an athlete's birthday.
IBJJF event tables assign the championship division from the athlete's year of birth. For a 2026 kids event, an athlete born in 2013 is Teen 1, while an athlete born in 2012 is Teen 2.
That same age division then interacts with belt and weight eligibility. The birth-year map answers the age question first; the championship's belt and weight charts answer the rest.
